Job Description

The Federal Security Manager will be responsible for providing a visual security presence to ensure visitors, clients, and employees have a safe and pleasant experience while inside the facility; deter and detect suspicious activities and watch for criminal behavior; assist and support the Facility Security Officer in administering and enforcing security measures necessary for implementing requirements of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual, Government security regulations, contractual security requirements and company security policies and procedures. This position will work day hours Monday – Friday and report directly to the Senior Manager, Federal Security. This role requires on-site work hours to support a 24X7X365 data center environment and is not eligible for remote and/or hybrid work. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESFrontline supervision of contracted security staff and daily security operationsImplement and execute security measures for adherence to Government and company security policies and proceduresEnsures all security systems are fully functional to include Access Control, Visitor Management, Service Now, and CCTVAids with investigations of security violations, suspected compromises, and security related mattersProactively informs management of security related developments, anomalies, and situations that affect the security posture of the facilityCreates, assigns, and issues facility access badges to authorized personnelResponds to all emergencies, such as medical, fire, intrusions, and other threatsImplements emergency response plans and evacuation procedures, which includes conducting fire evacuation drillsEnsures all security equipment is kept in excellent working condition through regular inspection and by following QTS preventative maintenance programsEnsures all inventories are received in correct unit count and good conditionEnsures security patrols are completed in accordance with QTS policies and proceduresConducts regular training for security staffConducts security briefings for QTS staff, customers, contractors, and sub-contractor construction personnelDevelop and maintain working relationships with Federal, State, and Local Law Enforcement as well as Fire and EMSPerform security officer duties as needed to ensure efficient operations and guest service standards are metProvide reports as needed for internal and external auditsProgram CCTVsProvides customers with monthly reportsProvides Operations leadership with monthly reportsRuns monthly capital labor reportsRuns monthly badge change reportsMaintains and manages Key Watcher System, adds new customers, takes inventory, and investigates discrepanciesUpdates customers space/location and key inventory logsWorks closely with the Operations Service Center to resolve ticketing issues and functions as an onsite advisorPerforms weekly backupsReviews End of Service and labor tracking reportsDirects the provisioning/deprovisioning of contracted security officersTrains, manages, and supports contracted guard personnel to provide quality customer service interactionsEnsures contracted guard service models QTS culture and lives QTS customer creedPerforms additional security duties and responsibilities as assignedBASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degreeTen or more years of professional experienceFive or more years of related experience in Physical Security ManagementUS Citizenship for this position is required by law due to federal customer contractsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSFifteen or more years of professional experienceTen or more years of related experience in Physical Security ManagementThree or more years of experience with Data Center SecurityTwo or more years of experience with Security Systems like Lenel or Honeywell (Prowatch)Two or more years of experience managing direct security personnel or security contractorsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESProficient computer skillsStrong leadership and interpersonal skillsProficient in Access Control Systems and related softwareAbility to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; for the purpose of public interaction and report writing. Have excellent customer service skillsAbility to handle typical emergency and crisis situations efficiently and effectivelyAbility to walk, stand or sit for at least 8 hoursKnowledge and experience conducting investigations and enforcing policies and proceduresPosition may involve frequent typing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching and lifting. Lifting requirements may range from <10 lbs. – 50 lbs. on a regular basis with heavier weights done in conjunction with other individuals or lifting aids.
