“Look Back and Consider, Then Look Ahead and Commit”
God’s Word provides encouragement,
guidance, strength, and wisdom.
Isaiah 43:18-19,
“Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the
past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth;
will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the
wilderness, rivers in the desert.”
Ezekiel 11:19-20,
“And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within
them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and
give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes
and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they will be My
people, and I shall be their God.”
God wants us to learn from the past, but not to dwell on
it.
Proverbs 3:5-6,
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your
own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He
will make your paths straight.”
Philippians 4:6-7,
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known
to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus.”
Philippians 4:12-13,
“I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know
how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have
learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of
having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things
through Him who strengthens me.”

“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also;
from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”

“He is the image of the invisible God.”
Colossians 2:9,
“For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form.”
Hebrews 1:3,
“He is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation
of His nature.”
We imitate God the Father by following God the Son.
1John 5:1-5,
“Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and
whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this
we know that we love the children of God, when we love God
and observe His commandments. For this is the love of God,
that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are
not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the
world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our
faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who
believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
Hebrews 10:24-26,
“Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good
deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the
habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more
as you see the day drawing near.”
2Corinthians 5:17-21,
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old
things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all
these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself
through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,
namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to
Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He
has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we
are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an
appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be
reconciled to God. He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on
our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God
in Him.”
John 14:1-3,
“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also
in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were
not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for
you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and
receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.”

23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to
you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed
took bread;
24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is
My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

“This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as
you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you
proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
John 6:35,
“I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger,
and he who believes in Me will never thirst.”
John 6:51,
“I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone
eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which
I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”
John 6:63-64,
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the
words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. But there
are some of you who do not believe.”
John 5:24,
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes
Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into
judgment, but has passed out of death into life.”
Hebrews 10:10,
“We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of
Jesus Christ once for all.”
Hebrews 10:14-18,
“For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are
sanctified. And the Holy Spirit also testifies to us… …saying, …‘I
will put My laws upon their heart, and on their mind I will write
them,’ He then says, ‘And their sins and their lawless deeds I
will remember no more.’ Now where there is forgiveness of
these things, there is no longer any offering for sin.”
Romans 10:9-10,
“that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe
in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be
saved; for with [your] heart [you] believe, resulting in
righteousness, and with [your] mouth confess, resulting in
salvation.”
1John 5:11-13,
“And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life,
and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he
who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
These things I have written to you who believe in the name of
the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal
life.”
That is the good news,
the very best news,
as we enter this new year.
